New in the Neighborhood!
I am happy to announce that we have moved into our new home in Chesapeake Beach MD. There is a lot of unpacking and decorating in my future but there is always time for cake!

Back in the saddle...
It's been a nice break after relocating from Japan back to the US and then welcoming son #2 to our family. My 3 year-old and 14 week old are keeping me busy but not to busy to add a special touch to your next event! The sky is the limit and my motto in cake is "anything is possible". Happy Summer!

Sara and Jesus's Wedding Cake
This cake was a collaboration between me (the sister-in-law) and Shirley Wilson, our Grandmother. Shirley made the gumpaste flowers and butterflies and mailed them to Chicago. I baked half the cake in Maryland and then put it all together at my Mother-in-Law's in Chicago. I think it was a great success and look forward to working more with Grandma Shirley and learning more from her in the future. Someday maybe we can get paid for all of this hard work!

USO Birthday Cupcakes
The USO on base has a birthday bash party every month for all of the birthday boys and girls. In April, I was swamped with work so my donation was a towering stack of 48 cupcakes. Next month I may have to pull out some bells and whistles.

Beach side goodies...
Joy and I held another portrait party last weekend at Kannonzaki Beach. When I set up my little table of goodies I had a small flood of locals inquiring if I was having a bake sale. I had to explain that the food was for our clients that were getting their pictures taken at the park. One gentlemen didn't understand and kept asking me if he could buy 5 cupcakes. I tried to explain that the were not for sale but he insisted. When I gave them to him for free he refused, walked three steps away and turned back...said he could take three for free and not feel too guilty. Joy suggested that I go back every day this week since it is Golden Week (sort of the Japanese Spring Break, many are not at work and the beaches and parks are packed) I could make a killing selling cupcakes and other pastries. Maybe I would if I wasn't a full-time monkey wrangler.
Pineapple-Amaretto Cupcakes
Vanilla cupcakes with pineapple amaretto filling topped with vanilla bean whipped cream and pineapple flowers
The first and last photos are mine...this was the spread for Lauren's baby shower. Thank you so much to Joy for taking the second and third...you have a way of making my cupcakes look like they should be for sale in a window...
Elegant Birthday
This was by far the best tasting cake I have ever made. The bottom tier was two layers of double chocolate cake sandwiched with Grand Marnier Glaze, orange curd and raspberries. The top tier was two layers of luscious lemon cake sandwiched with Lemoncello glaze, lemon curd and raspberries. All buttoned up with buttercream icing and mm fondant roses.

Welcome Sakura..and Thank You Interns!
This cake was presented as a Thank You to the Japanese Interns at USNH Yokosuka that help to bridge the communication between the base and off base hospitals. Without them we wouldn't have the fantastic medical care we have available to us in Yokosuka. I though it was appropriate to celebrate the season of Sakura and say Thank You all in one cake!
a message from the client: "Jenn! Thank you so much for making our cake in such a short notice! It was wonderful! The interns were very impressed with the Sakura flowers and loved the filling! I tell you, it was great! Again Thank you!!!! Now I know who to turn to when I need a special cake made!"
